If you fed up with Twitter spam, and want to be sure that you are not following any more Twitter spammers, I want to recommend you a cool Twitter tool called "TwitChuck". TwitChuck allows you to easily check a Twitter user before you follow them. It will assess activity, followers and postings of that user and give detailed feedback explaining why you should or should not follow them. Too bad it won't auto-delete spammers yet. Feel free to give TwitChuck a try.
