Twitter has developed a new set of frameworks to let consumers tweet, and follow others' tweets, from within other websites outside of Twitter. The user may, for example, “twitter” a YouTube video without leaving, subscribe to the Twitter account of a writer at the Huffington Post, or to that of a journalist from The New York Times through a link in the text. Analysts said the framework could spread Twitter activity far beyond its current boundaries.

YouTube New Content Filter
A new content filter called "Safety Mode" has been introduced by YouTube lately. The interesting part is it can help parents screen out content they may think as offensive like sexually suggestive clips and graphic violence. It also hides all text comments by default. To use the filter, just scroll to the bottom of any YouTube page and click "Safety Mode is off" on the bottom left. Click "On" and "Save" to activate the filter. The filter only works whenever you are logged-in and once you're logged-out, the filter is deactivated.

Yahoo Sells HotJobs to Monster for $225 Million?
In 2002, Yahoo bought HotJobs recruiting site for $436 million in stock and cash. Now Yahoo sold its HotJobs to Monster Worldwide for $225 million. As part of the deal, Monster will provide career and jobs content on the Yahoo home page for three years in the U.S. and Canada. In return, Yahoo will make annual payments to Monster based on clicks and how many people express interest in job postings. Monster will be able to negotiate similar deals with Yahoo subsidiaries in other countries. If the deal is approved by regulators, Monster plans to take over HotJobs between June and October.

Bill Gates Join Twitter
Hey geeks, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates finally started using Twitter (@BillGates). I think the account is held by Gates because it is one of the pages that Twitter lists as a "verified account". His first tweet was "Hello World" (Hello World is actually an output of a simple program that is taught to beginner programmers) and now he has 369,210 followers. He also retweet posts from Time and Ryan Seacrest on Haiti, thanking Seacrest for his work in the quake relief effort.

The Top Facebook Status Trends for 2009

The top most discussed topics of 2009 has been released by Facebook. It is taken based on daily status updates by Facebook members. To reach its conclusions, Facebook looked at how many times a given one- to four-word phrase was used in Facebook status updates, and then computed the rate at which each phrase was used in 2009 compared to 2008. The number one trend was Facebook applications, specifically the discussion of FarmVille in status updates. Farmville became the most talked-about application in status updates and now boasts over 72 million monthly active users. To be frankly, this games really addicted and I'm the one of the users.

Google Homepage "Fades In" When The Page First Loads

If you are a Google users, did you recognized something different on Google homepage lately? All I can see is that Google didn't show any of the links in the image on the right of their pages until a homepage visitor moves his or her mouse. It shows only their logo, the search box and the buttons. Good idea actually because most people just use google for searching, so it makes sense in that way. So what's next Google!?

Twitter - The Top Words of 2009
According to the Global Language Monitor, which examines language usage across the world, "Twitter" beat out "Obama," "H1N1," "stimulus," and "vampire" to take the crown. The analysis was completed in late November using GLM’s Predictive Quantities Indicator (PQI), the proprietary algorithm that tracks words and phrases in the media and on the Internet, now including blogs and social media. The words are tracked in relation to frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets, factoring in long-term trends, short-term changes, momentum and velocity. Below is the top words of 2009:
1. Twitter — The ability to encapsulate human thought in 140 characters
2. Obama — The word stem transforms into scores of new words like ObamaCare
3. H1N1 — The formal (and politically correct) name for Swine Flu
4. Stimulus — The $800 billion aid package meant to help mend the US economy
5. Vampire — Vampires are very much en vogue, now the symbol of unrequited love
6. 2.0 — The 2.0 suffix is attached to the next generation of everything
7. Deficit — Lessons from history are dire warnings here
8. Hadron — Ephemeral particles subject to collision in the Large Hadron Collider
9. Healthcare — The direction of which is the subject of intense debate in the US
10. Transparency — Elusive goal for which many 21st c. governments are striving
11. Outrage — In response to large bonuses handed out to ‘bailed-out’ companies

Anti-Fraud Credit Card

You think you may have misplaced your card and it may possibly be at home somewhere. Then you quickly realize that this is not the case when your credit card bill comes in and there are charges that you could not have possibly made because your "card is in the house somewhere." Though this is the worst case scenario, this does happen very frequently. Once your bill arrives and you see the unauthorized charges you should be on the phone immediately reporting credit card fraud. In today's poor economy, criminal acts are becoming more of a problem.
Emue Technologies has unveiled the next generation of its anti-fraud credit card. The device combines a world first embedded 14-segment E Ink display with a 12-button numeric keypad, microprocessor and, despite being the same size as a conventional card, a battery designed to last for three years. To authenticate a phone or online transaction, the user enters the transaction information and their PIN with the keypad to generate a one-time-only authentication code that appears on the E-Ink display.

The interests people share make it possible for you to create a more personalized experience on your website in a number of ways:
* Send custom newsletters: The new "Newsletter" section of your account lets you create, send and manage newsletters. And with the help of "Interests," you can either send out newsletters to all your subscribers, or send out custom newsletters to different segments of your subscribers, based on the interest responses they submit.
* Personalized content gadget: This new Friend Connect gadget automatically presents a dynamic personalized set of links to your site's content that matches each visitor's specific interests. Is a visitor learning how to play swing music? Links to articles your site has published about playing swing are presented to him or her.

Twitter May Add Video Functionality To The Service?
Twitter will allow users to upload short video soon? Twitter's founders hope the addition of live video-tweeting will boost the prominence of the social-networking site. I don't think it's a good idea. What about third party sites like Twiddeo and Tweetube that already allow Twitter users to post video tweets? I'm sure it will cause controversy among the developer community. So what do you think about this matter?
